What happens if I want to terminate before the end of the 20 years?

Early termination is possible but contractually governed. It involves repayment of a compensation calculated on remaining lease payments, decreasing over time. The LTSL contract includes force majeure cases (death, professional relocation outside Mauritius) with eased conditions.

If I sell my house, what happens to the SOLAR RENT contract?

The contract is transferable to the new owner. This is an additional selling point for your property: the buyer benefits from day one of a fully operational solar installation with maintenance included, at no installation cost.

Will I become the owner of the system at the end of the contract?

Accepted Answer

Yes. At the end of the contract (20 years), the complete solar system (panels, batteries, inverters) is transferred to you for a symbolic amount. You become the owner of a fully depreciated and maintained installation.

What happens in case of a cyclone or natural damage?

The system is covered by comprehensive insurance included in the SOLAR RENT contract. In case of damage caused by a cyclone, flood or any weather event, SOLAR RENT covers the repair or replacement of equipment at no additional cost to you.

Who is responsible if the system breaks down?

SOLAR RENT is fully responsible for corrective and preventive maintenance throughout the contract. If a breakdown occurs, our technical team responds within 48 hours. You pay no repair or parts replacement costs.

Question 6

Why pay an Initial Enhanced Deposit (IED)?

Accepted Answer

The IED (between Rs 150,000 and Rs 350,000 depending on the plan) represents your initial contribution to system financing. It significantly reduces your monthly lease payments over 20 years. Unlike a cash purchase, you don't spend Rs 600,000 to Rs 900,000 upfront — the IED is 2 to 3 times lower.

Can monthly lease payments increase?

No. The monthly lease is contractually fixed for the entire duration of the contract. This is one of SOLAR RENT's major advantages: while your CEB bill increases every year, your solar lease stays stable. Your net savings therefore grow mechanically year after year.

Question 8

Is the CEB grid connection guaranteed?

Accepted Answer

SOLAR RENT handles all administrative procedures with the CEB under the 2026 scheme. However, final approval remains at the CEB's discretion. In case of connection refusal, contractual clauses provide for alternative solutions or termination without penalty.
